About SGDC

I’m not a person who usually embraces change, but in today’s uncertain NFL world, I expect it. Furthermore, as a recent college graduate and aspiring journalist I’m used to it.

Change comes with with territory in Washington. Politicians and football players shuffle in and out like clockwork, leaving us with the expectation that every so often we’ll be left at the altar by some president or some stud free agent defensive tackle with a penchant for law-breaking.

Everytime time it happens we feel ripped off. Never again will we throw caution to the winds the next time a monumental figure touches down in the Nation’s Capital. Never again will we be caught proclaiming victory before the battle even begins.

Obviously, this oath is made with good intentions. We mean it with all our heart. However, we can’t help ourselves when a shiny new hero makes a triumphant entrance. The Offseason Champs live in Washington, giving us all hope that someday soon the success on paper will translate to the gridiron.

It’s hard to knock hope and I applaud anyone who can live through such a tumultuous relationship with a certain football team residing in the area. You are true fans.

And that’s what Swinging Gate DC is all about. This is a blog for you, the fans so that you can receive an in-depth look at your Washington Redskins.

I said earlier I don’t care for change, but after spending nearly three years as the sole writer at ‘Skins Talk, I’m making a big one by joining forces with Dan Shiferaw and Ed Sheahin to bring you some of the best Redskins coverage on the Web.

Unlike most change, this is a welcome one. Ed and I have spent two years as credentialed Redskins writers and Dan made it out to his first game in the press box last season. With this continued access we expect to provide you with top quality news, stories and analysis on all things Burgundy and Gold.

Like you, we have a passion for this team. Following them hasn’t been a pleasant experience for a long while, but that won’t change our approach. We will be here to offer our insight year round with innovative features, exclusive interviews, offseason musings and thorough game notes. With some luck we’ll be around for the restoration of this proud franchise and hopefully you’ll join us for the ride.

To anyone who has read our work in the past, thank you. We look forward to receiving your continued support in this new venture. Please spread the word about Swinging Gate DC to anyone looking for Redskins news and we promise they won’t be disappointed. We can only be as successful as you make us so please do not hesitate to provide feedback positive or negative to theswinginggatedc@gmail.com.

Again we appreciate the support and Hail to the Redskins!
